- John J. Struve, stroke victim, buried Tuesday

Funeral services for John J. Struve, 72, Manning auto dealer and prominent in civic circles, were held at the Ohde Funeral Home at 2 o'clock Tuesday. The Rev. C.G. Sinning of the Presbyterian church officiated. Ray Pratt was soloist and Mrs. H.W. Hagedorn, organist. Burial was in the Manning cemetery Pallbearers were nephews, Julius Hoffman, Donald Struve of Ft. Dodge; Hayford Guritz of, Marshalltown; Marvin Hill, Roy A. Struve, Labert Stahl, jr.
Mr. Struve died on Saturday, Dec 30 at St. Joseph's Mercy hospital in Aurora, Ill., where he had been hospitalized since Dec. 11, as the result of a stroke, suffered While returning from visiting relatives in Illinois.
Son of Carsten and Margretha Joens Struve, he was born on Sept 30, 1889 at Clinton at the age of nine he came to Manning with his parents and lived on a farm south of Manning.
On Feb 25, 1914, he married Anna M. Joens at Manning. They farmed near Manning and retired 1936. In 1947, he and his son, Merlin, opened the Buick and Willys agency in Manning.
Mr. Struve was prominent in republican circles, served as mayor of Manning for several terms; was on the town council for a number of years and was currently chairman of the board of the municipal light] plant.
He is survived by his wife; a son, Merlin and his wife, a granddaughter, Frances Struve; two sisters, Mrs. Herbert Hinze of Arcadia; and Mrs. Hemel Brandt of Wheaton, Ill and a brother, Emil Struve of Porterville, Calif.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and four brothers,
